Financial Help
Citizens Advice Bureau - The Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB) helps people who are having difficulty legally, financially and in other ways, who have nowhere else to turn to for information. There are local CABs all over the UK. Browse our list of local CABs for further information or go to the CAB website.
Citizens Advice Scotland
The Insolvency Service - The Insolvency Service is a UK agency that operates under the Insolvency Act 1986 and 2000, the Company Directors Disqualifications Act 1986 and the Employment Rights Act 1996. They deal with anything to do with Insolvent Individuals, Companies and Partnerships, Bankruptcy, IVAs (Individual Voluntary Arrangements) and more.
Financial Services Authority - An independant non-governmental body limited by guarantee that regulates the financial services industry in the United Kingdom. The board is appointed by the Treasury.
Consumer Direct - Consumer Direct provide consumer advice on many different consumer issues. From problems with cars to household stuff, money and more.
Council of Mortgage Lenders - An industry body representing Mortgage Lenders in the UK.
Money Advice Trust - Charity formed to help people struggling with managing their debts.
Money Scotland - Advice on managing money and beating debt.

General Help and Support
Age Concern - Charity for the elderly
The British Red Cross are a volunteer-led humanitarian organisation that helps people in crisis, whoever and wherever they are.
Cancer Aid and Listening Line (CALL) - Supporting people who live with cancer.
Cancer Counselling Trust is the only national charoty with the remit to provide free specialist counselling for those of you affected by cancer and your family and friends.
The voice of carers! Carers UK is a membership organisation of carers, led by carers.
Cruse Bereavement Care - An organisation there to help you through a difficult time. Cruse exists to promote the well-being of bereaved people.
Department for Work and Pensions - The Department for Work and Pensions leads the Government's response to some of the biggest issues facing the country - welfare and pension reform.
Gamcare - provide counselling for anyone who is experiencing difficulties resulting from a gambling problem – including partners and family members.
Gingerbread - is a charity for single parent families.
Help the Aged - An international Charity fighting to free older people from poverty, isolation and neglect.
Lone Parent Helpline - Free, confidential information and publications on issues surrounding lone parents.
Mind - is the leading mental health charity for England and Wales. They promote and protect good mental health for all.
Relate - Relate offers advice, relationship counselling, sex therapy, workshops, mediation consultations and support face to face, by phone and through their website.
The Samaritans are a helpline that provides free, confidential, non judgemental emotional support for people who are experiencing feelings of distress or despair, including those which could lead to suicide.
Shelter is a housing and homelessness charity that provides advice and information on all types of housing issues.
Ombudsman and regulatory Bodies
Financial Ombudsman Service - The official independent expert in settling complaints between consumers and businesses providing financial services.
Ombudsman Association - British and Irish Ombudsman Association. A site listing the Ombudsmen and other complaint handling bodies who may be able to help you.
Local Government Ombudsmen - The Local Government Ombudsman looks at complaints about councils and some other authorities, including education admissions appeal panels. It is a free service. The job of the local government ombudsman is to investigate in a fair and independent, impartial way.
Office of Fair Trading (OFT) - The OFT is the UK's consumer and competition authority who's mission is to make markets work well for customers.
The Equality and Human Rights Association - Promotes equality and human rights to create a fairer Britain; by providing guidance and advice, working to implement an effective legislative framework and raising awareness of your rights.
